Dr. Benson to Present at BIAMI 2017 Conference

About the BIAMI 2017 Conference

The BIAMI conference is held in conjunction with the Michigan Brain Injury Provider Council. The event is the largest of its kind in the US with over 140 exhibitors and over 1500 attendees expected. The purpose of ove the event is to provide state-of-the art information about brain injury treatment and therapies, which will maximize rehabilitation and foster a good quality of life. The conference is designed to benefit therapy providers with their patients, as well as caregivers and brain injury survivors.

Dr. Benson’s Presentation

Dr. Benson will present topical information relating to traumatic pituitary hypofunction. This is one of the principal causes of persistent morbidity in mTBI in the post-acute period.  This important cause of persistent sequelae is rarely sought out and not diagnosed in affected individuals.  It is an important cause of disability and is frequently associated with suicidal ideation. Most importantly, it is treatable when recognized.  Dr. Benson will discuss:

  • Cause
  • Symptomatic presentation
  • Differential diagnosis
  • Diagnostic algorithm
  • Aspects of treatment.

He is scheduled to speak on Friday (September 15th) at 1:45 – 2:45 pm.
